Daily Steps

Terms of Use

Version · In effect since 8 October 2026

These terms explain the rules for using Daily Steps. They are written to be easy to read, but they are still a binding agreement between you and the operator. By creating an account you accept them.

In Short

  • Daily Steps is a free, personal hobby project, provided “as is”, without any guarantees.
  • It is not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before changing how much you exercise or your weight goals.
  • You walk at your own risk. Never look at notifications while driving or cycling.
  • Be fair: give accurate information, keep your password secret, and do not try to break the app.

Who Provides the App

Daily Steps is provided by [Operator name], [contact e-mail] (“the operator”, “we”). How we handle your personal data is explained in the Privacy Notice.

What the App Is

Daily Steps sends you reminders to go for a walk and lets you log your daily steps and, if you want, your weight. It is a free, personal hobby project run by a private individual. There is no company behind it, no paid plan and no support team.

The app is meant for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell it, offer it to others as a service, or use it for business purposes.

Not Medical Advice

Daily Steps, its step goals, reminders, charts and BMI values are general information only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and they do not replace a doctor or other healthcare professional.

Use at Your Own Risk

You decide whether, when and where to walk. You are responsible for your own safety while walking, including paying attention to traffic, the weather, the route and your own health.

Never read or act on notifications while driving, cycling or doing anything else that needs your full attention. A reminder can always wait.

No Guarantees

The app is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. In particular, we do not guarantee that:

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damage, for loss of data, or for any damage resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the app.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Dutch or EU law, including liability for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence (in Dutch: opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid). Nothing in these terms affects your rights under the GDPR or other mandatory consumer protection laws.

Your Account

Invite Only

You can only sign up with a valid invite code. Invite codes are personal and can be used once; do not share or sell them.

Age

You must be 16 or older to create an account and use the app.

Accurate Information

Give accurate information when you sign up, in particular a working e-mail address that belongs to you, so we can send you important messages such as password reset links.

Keeping Your Account Safe

Keep your password secret and do not use it for other websites. You are responsible for what happens with your account. If you think someone else has access to it, change your password and use “Log Out of All Devices” in Settings, or reset your password.

Fair Use

When using the app, you may not:

If you find a security problem, please report it privately to [contact e-mail] instead of using it. Thank you!

Changes to the App and Ending Your Use

Because Daily Steps is a hobby project, the operator may change, suspend or discontinue the app, or any part of it, at any time. Where possible we give notice in advance, so you have time to download your data.

We may suspend or delete accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms. Where reasonable we will tell you why first.

You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account in Settings → Delete Account. This deletes all your data immediately.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you live in another country, this choice does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence, and you can always bring a dispute before the courts of the country where you live.

If you have a complaint, please contact us first; we will try to find a solution together.

Changes to These Terms

The version and date at the top show when these terms last changed. If we make a material change, the app tells you and asks you to accept the new version the next time you open it. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
